This is a portrait of Rebecca Guest a nurse at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham; she works on the Obstetrics & Gynaecology ward. Her cat,  Cody, is sitting on her knee.
 
Rebecca was awarded a Daisy award in 2019, an award which honours exceptional nurses working in the NHS, nominations come from the patients themselves.
 
Cody, her three legged cat, is a popular figure on the street where they live. He often waits outside their home to meet and greet children on their way to school and other passers by.
 
This was one of the most difficult of the portraits to paint, and I had to abandon it three times before I was happy with it. I’m glad I persevered.
