This painting was my successful entry into the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year in 2023, although it was painted in October 2022.

I had beeen painting all the paintings for the People of Beeston series and had planned an exhibition in a church in October. Unfortunately the Queen died and the church postponed the exhibition so the church could be open for mourners.

​

I was therefore at a bit of a loose end, feeling abit flat, so I decided to paint this for the Sky show.

​

It was painted specifically for the show, having watched it for a few years I thought I knew the kind of thing they liked.

​

It worked.
